  • Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve (5.2 miles) - A unique area of wetland with marshes, reedbeds, lakes and woodland that is home to a rich variety of wildlife especially water birds.
  • Sandwich and Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve (7.3 miles) – Kent Wildlife Trust’s largest and one of its most important nature reserves, with the only ancient dune pasture in Kent. The reserve is made up of a complex mosaic of habitats: inter-tidal mudflats, saltmarsh, shingle beach, sand dunes, ancient dune pastures, chalk cliffs, wave cut platform and coastal scrubland. The reserve is of international importance for its waders and wildfowl, best seen over winter or during the spring and autumn migrations.
  • Goodnestone Park Gardens (7.9 miles) - Peaceful and romantic garden with connections to Jane Austen. It has been described by various writers as “one of the loveliest gardens in Kent”, “a haven of beautiful tranquillity hidden away in south East Kent”.
  • The Blean (15 miles) -
    Situated between Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable and Faversham, covering an area of 11 square miles. A wonderful place to visit at any time of year and with a network of pathways stretching 120 miles. A fantastic area for walking alongside plenty of other outdoor activities including cycling, wildlife watching and horse riding.
